I currently work at a pretty small desk in the pretty small living room in our (pretty small) flat. This is mostly fine but having my computer inches from my face all day - luring me into another eBay quest, or into checking The Guardian again just in case the news has changed - is not productive.
I’m certainly not the only one losing hours of each day scrolling through Polish movie posters that I can’t afford, and also far from alone in feeling robbed of the ability to work on creative tasks with any focus whatsoever.
Until I have a desk big enough that I can scoot away from the computer I need some other kind of physical barrier between myself and the black mirror of doom…
A theatrical safety curtain seemed only appropriate to protect me from myself, and I set about illustrating this one using gouche and watercolours, with finishing touches carried out in Procreate and Photoshop.
The image then went off to Contrado where it was printed onto cotton poplin fabric. Sewing this into a slip cover was a little tricky (the 3D curved corners on the top edges are more botched than I’d like) but it fits well enough over the screen to save me from myself for now.
Thank you for reading, I’ll be back soon with more new makes.
This is a genius idea, and it looks beautiful as well!
I love this! I want one too and perhaps also a veil for my phone.
