People who love both clothes and summer are a complete mystery to me. What can you wear in 35c that brings you any joy? Even 25c is proving a bit of a struggle, but I’ve managed to sew a few things that have carried me through summer so far.
Still ploughing through my stash of linen I’ve put together a couple of interchangeable summer sets. The trousers shown are both French Navy’s ‘Xanelé Longs' pattern, though I made the black pair a size or two too big (not too much of a problem when you have an elastic waistband to cinch everything back in) so they are even waftier than intended.
This black shirt is Bella Loves Patterns’ ‘Rosie’ pattern, she recommends using a light, drapey fabric for this design and the linen I used is probably a little on the heavy side, but I think it still works well as a slightly more structured shirt.
The gingham pullover top is Spaghetti Western Sewing’s ‘Felix’ top, which is very easy to sew and would be a great beginner project. I definitely plan on making more and trying out different design tweaks with the hem and collar.
Even though the worst (/best, if you like that sort of thing) of summer is still to come I’m predictably already planning for autumn and winter. These patches are on their way to becoming a pair of quilted trousers:
More on those before too long…
These are such wonderful and versatile pieces! They work equally when worn and when they appear in your illustrations! :)
Oh these trousers look so comfy. And quilted trousers - very excited to hear about those.
